Title: Casual Circulation Clerk
Reports to: Library Director
Description:
The Circulation Clerk plays a crucial role in ensuring smooth library operations by managing various circulation tasks, providing excellent customer service, and promoting library programs. This position requires a detail-oriented individual with strong organizational and interpersonal skills.
Qualifications:
· High school diploma or equivalent; additional education in library science is a plus.
· Prior experience in a library or customer service role preferred.
· Proficient in computer skills and familiarity with library systems.
· Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
· Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team.
Responsibilities:
· Maintaining a high degree of customer service at all times.
· Circulation desk duties: including but not limited to:
o Checking-in, checking-out, recording in-house use, renewing and reserving library materials, registering and updating members
o Gift shop transactions
o Performs daily opening and closing procedures
o ILL and ILC reserves
o Promote library programs in person on social media and create monthly newsletter
o Assists patrons looking for materials on the shelves, needing assistance at the Online Public Access Catalogues, reference computer workstations and circulation desk
o Answer enquiries regarding the collection, online resources, and local tourist attractions
o Maintains the general appearance of the public areas of the library; including but not limited to: display’s and shelf tidying, shelf reading and light cleaning of workspaces
o Assists and monitors patrons in use of the Public Access Computers, printers, wireless internet and photocopier
o Provides Readers’ Advisory service to patrons
o Undertake additional responsibilities as assigned and delegated by the Library Director
Other requirements:
· Works flexible schedule, include evenings and Saturdays
