New Cards for Everyone

Since June 2008, the Library has been issuing new Library cards. If you don't have a white Library card, you will need to get a replacement.

Please bring your ID with your current address information. Normal registration procedures will apply.

Before being registered, Library patrons will be required to show proof of residency. This proof must include one of the following:

Full-Service Card

All full-time residents of the City of Trail and the Village of Warfield qualify for free, full-service membership at the Library.

School age children may have their own library card, but a parent or guardian must sign for children 12 years and under, acknowledging responsibility for materials borrowed on that card.

What is a Full-Service membership?

With a Full-Service membership, you can have up to 50 items out at a time, get Inter-Library Loans, use the on-line databases and have one hour of free Internet access a day.

Why only the City of Trail and the Village of Warfield?

Their taxes fund the Trail & District Public Library.

Non-Resident Cards

Most people living in British Columbia contribute to library services through taxation. Those that do not, must purchase a Non-Resident card to obtain library services. This includes: RDKB Area 'B' residents, other British Columbians in "non-serviced" areas, and people residing outside of British Columbia.

Non-Resident Card$50 annual fee for those 19 years and older
$20 annual fee those under 19 years of age - effective January 1, 2010

Organizations

An organization may acquire a library membership upon presenting a letter from an authorized signatory such as a director. Items will be loaned to designated members of the organization. The membership will expire on the one-year anniversary of the issuance of the membership.
