Children's Programs



About the Curriculum

The Creative Curriculum ® is a comprehensive, scientifically based system. It features literacy content to be taught based on published standards. It is related to curricula used in elementary schools.

About the Instructors

Amanda Culp has a keen interest in child development and literacy. She has a BA and recently participated in the West Kootenay Teacher Education program.

Martine Oosting has a BA, Community Education & Organization, and is a licensed Early Childhood Educator with recent experience working at Kootenay Family Place, Castlegar, and Kootenay Kids Society, Nelson.



Story Sprouts

Wednesdays & Fridays at 10:30 am, Starting October 5

Story Sprouts is for infants, toddlers, & twos. Sing, snap, clap, and tap. Join us for interactive performances of our favorite songs, rhymes, and stories. This program is delivered by Amanda Culp.

Sessions are free, but space is limited to children who have registered, and others on a first-come, first-serve basis. Register by contacting the Library at (250) 364-1731. Children must be accompanied by an adult caregiver.

Creative Peas ABC's

Thursdays at 10:30 am, Starting October 13

Creative Peas ABC's is for children ages 3 - 5 years. Stories, songs, games, and crafts help children gain pre-reading skills and develop a love of reading. This program is delivered by Martine Oosting.

Sessions are free, but space is limited to children who have registered, and others on a first-come, first-serve basis. Register by contacting the Library at (250) 364-1731. Parents or caregivers are asked to remain in the Library during the programs.

Creative Kidz Art Rewards

Saturdays at 1:30 pm, Starting October 15

Are you clever with your hands? Sign up for this program and make something fun with your friends! Creative Kidz Art Rewards is for children ages 6 - 12 years. This program is delivered by Martine Oosting.

Sessions are free, but space is limited to children who have registered, and others on a first-come, first-serve basis. Parental supervision is not required, but parents are asked to sign their child in/out.
